“Vasanthi Devi received a B.A in 1945 at American College, Madurai, and M.A in Economics at Pachiyappa’s College and Madras University. She received her M.A degree in 1947.
The above photograph was taken some time in the 1970s when Mrs. Vasanthi Devi was teaching at Ethiraj College. She is being felicitated here by Mrs. Indira Gandhi (she received the Best Teacher Award at Ethiraj College, Madras). She later went on to become Head of the Economics Department and then Principal of Ethiraj College. She was also the first Vice-Chancellor of the Kodaikanal Women’s University.”
